This guide to the structures that comprise the al-Haram al-Sharif, the Temple Mount, is of course written from a religious Moslem perspective. Interestingly, despite this fact, it specifically defines the Haram Al-Sharif as the historical location of the Jewish Great Temple. On page 2/3, it is stated that "This site is one of the oldest in the world. Its sanctity dates from the earliest (perhaps from pre-historic) times. Its identity with the site of Solomon's Temple is beyond dispute. This, too, is the spot, according to universal belief, on which David ‘built there an altar unto the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings' [2 Samuel, 24:25]."Hence the Supreme Muslim Council (headed by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini) here officially records the historic Jewish connection to the Temple Mount.A visitor's guide to the Temple Mount, a descriptive guide to the buildings and structures on the Temple Mount, as well as their history and significance. The Council was established in 1922 and was entrusted with the management of the properties of the Waqf (the Muslim Trust) – including the Temple Mount – and with the administration of the Muslim judicial system.
